I'm honored to serve as one of your five Dixie School Board Trustees. Our schools should be places where every child loves to learn and develops a strong educational foundation. We can succeed through collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and improved communication.
Please join me at our monthly school board meetings which usually occur on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. You can find the calendar and agendas here.
I am a responsible financial steward. I serve on our district's Budget Committee and Property Committee. I consistently advocate for raising our district’s budget reserve to at least 10%. I volunteered hundreds of hours on our district’s successful parcel tax renewal campaign which funds more than 10% of our annual budget.
Families in our school district speak more than 25 different languages. I participate on our English Learners Committee to support our students who are bilingual and multilingual. I stand up for civil rights, diversity, and equity.
We need to make our community more resilient. I am a member of our Wellness Committee, which is working on an allergy protocol and improving physical education. I collaborate with San Rafael City Schools and nonprofits in our Community School Initiative. I care about working families and supported our successful expansion of child care services.
I care about the environment. I worked with the district's Green Committee to improve our recycling, expand our gardens, and transition our facilities to 100% renewable energy.
I was elected in November 2015. My term ends in November 2020. I live with my family and four cats in San Rafael, CA. Our children are 15, 12, and 11 years old. In my spare time, I play cello, knit, and garden. I received a B.A. degree in Government from Georgetown University and J.D. degree from Lewis and Clark School of Law.
I ask that you decline to sign the divisive recall petition.
Let’s come together to teach our children how to be compassionate and successful.
Thank you for your ongoing support for all of the children in our community. I am grateful to serve as your School Board Trustee.
